$7.00
“Finally, all in one place, a collection of a Portland icon and legend. Long live The King!” proclaims Voodoo Doughnut Recordings label owner, Tres Shannon.
A career-defining retrospective of the one, the only, The King, John “Elvis” Schroder. He does it all, ladies & gents, ranging from blues to rock and roll to ballads to spooky tales and everything in between!
These 15 tracks have been pulled from an extensive catalog of music created by The King over the years. The albums, Midnight Stalker and his Xmas album were recorded in the early 90’s by the ultimate audiophile of Portland music, Dean Fletcher (who also helps with the musical compositions and guitar playing) and featuring a who’s who of the Portland music scene including Sam Coomes (Quasi, Heatmeiser), Daniel Riddle (King Black Acid) & X-Ray Café co-owners Tres Shannon & Benjamin Arthur Ellis.
Other tracks included here were pulled from the Spooky Tales That Chill album, recorded at Big House Studios in Vancouver, WA with The King reciting his own spooky tales backed by an experimental/noise band. The live tracks captured on this Greatest Hits package, find the King at his most comfortable, LIVE ON STAGE backed by none other than The Karaoke From Hell Band at Dantes ripping through covers including Don’t Be Cruel, Secret Agent Man & My Way.
